We had some guests visit us from America, and they brought with them a new card game to us, ‘Five Crowns’.
It’s strictly limited to 11 rounds of play, with a different wild card each round—threes to Kings. There are no aces or twos, but there is an extra suit. It starts with 3 cards each, where 3s are wild, and continues until you have 11 cards each, which is hard to organise, never mind hold! It’s scored by how many points you’re caught with at the end of each round. The winner has the lowest overall score. It gave us some very friendly and enjoyable evenings.
For those of you who may already know this game, you’ll realise Brian’s starting hand (below) is a bit of a stinker.
But ‘The game isn’t over ‘til the Kings go wild’.
