Terms & conditions

Terms of booking
Full Terms and Conditions concerning Chambre d’hôte room rental - The Magnum and The Jeroboam, 13 Grande Rue, Viviers-sur-Artaut, 10110. These terms apply to the furnished rooms, house, garden, swimming pool and any additional services provided by us for your stay.

Arrival and Departure
Check-in is available from 4.00pm on the day of arrival. Check-in times outside of those specified must be confirmed with us prior to arrival.

We ask that you please vacate your room by 11am on the morning of your departure, unless a later time has been agreed.

Reservations
Please note that we do not ask for a deposit, and that all bookings are taken in good faith. This may vary for reservations taken during specific events or for longer stays.*

Cancellation by the Guest
We would ask you to appreciate that we are a small enterprise, so last minute cancellations will affect our business. However, we also understand that sometimes things happen which mean that you may need to either move your booking or cancel. Please provide us with as much notice as you can in these circumstances.

Cancellation by us
In the case of an unfortunate event outside our reasonable control (such as serious adverse weather conditions, serious damage to the house, a pandemic or epidemic in France, or interruption or failure of utility services such as electric power, or water) which means we are unable to provide our service, we shall use every effort to notify you as soon as is reasonably practical. Should it become necessary for us to cancel a booking we will do our best to recommend other accommodation in the local area. Our liability will not extend beyond these conditions.

Car Parking
We do have limited parking available for guests’ on site (one space for each room). Cars are parked here at the car owners risk.

Damage and Breakages
This is our home, and we will appreciate your consideration in taking care of it. You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages which you cause to the accommodation or its contents. Please report these as soon as they occur, especially if you accidentally spill something – it’s much easier to clean if we know what it is and act quickly. We do not normally charge for breakages, but we reserve the right to charge for repair, or making good, if the damage is significant.

Please do not apply, or use, fake tan or tinted suncreams in our bedrooms and bathrooms - these do stain. Any linens, towels and soft furnishings stained with fake tan or suncreams will be charged for. Please take special note that new P20 sunscreens react with chlorine from pools and will damage pool linings and other materials they come in contact with. This damage is not always immediate. Please DO NOT use P20 suncreams if you intend to use the pool.

We have a natural, communal water treatment system that cannot cope with sanitary items, plastics or other materials. Please do not put anything other than toilet paper down the toilets.

Health and safety and antisocial behaviour.
La Maison en champagne is our beautiful private residence, and is our home. We ask that all guests behave and treat with respect our guests, home, swimming pool, grounds and also our neighbours. We ask you to respect the vineyards and the people who live around us.

We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal activities, vandalism and rude and abusive behaviour towards us, our family and anyone working alongside us. Illegal activities, drug taking and excessive alcohol consumption will immediately be reported to the police. Rude and abusive guests will be asked to leave with immediate effect.

We have a swimming pool that is used at your own risk, you will be asked to sign a consent form on arrival to allow you use of the pool.

La Maison en Champagne, or anyone working alongside us, will not be liable for any injury, damage or loss of any nature, however caused (through negligence or not) suffered by you or your party whether before, during, or after your stay.

Smoking
Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is NOT permitted within any part of La Maison en Champagne - the house, garden, or swimming pool area. You may be liable for professional cleaning of any rooms and any outstanding balance of nights booked but not taken through an early departure if you are not able to adhere to this request.

Evening Meal Reservations
We are pleased to offer our guests table d’hôte meals on request. Please let us know in advance if you would like to book an evening meal, and notify us of any special dietary requirements. All meals are prepared to order and therefore we require a minimum of 24 hours notice. Without pre-ordering we may not be able to provide a meal on the day of arrival.

As Evening Meals are purchased and prepared to order, if an order is placed and then cancelled after 12 noon on the day of dining, or not taken for any reason, the full cost of the meal will remain payable.

Evening meals are subject to availability. Please note that while we do our best to cater for all dietary requirements we DO NOT guarantee that our kitchen is allergen free. If you have severe allergies you may wish to bring your own food.

Swimming pool
You will be asked to sign a pool disclaimer on check-in.

The swimming pool is open from mid May to mid September, and is heated by heat exchanger when the weather is warm enough to allow it. However, depending on the weather, these dates may change. It is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm (Modifiable by us without additional notice).

The pool is regularly maintained, but if unusual climatic changes occur, this can affect the chemical balance. In case of problems with water clarity, please contact us as soon as possible.

If the pool has to be emptied, cleaned and refilled due to client’s own fault, the costs incurred will be charged to the client.

We are not responsible for any loss or inconvenience that may occur as a result of an unforeseen failure of the pump/filtration system or other equipment used in the swimming pool that requires the pool to be out of use. The client is not entitled to compensation if the swimming pool cannot be used for a number of days. We do not take responsibility for the safety of you or your guests. Children and vulnerable persons must be supervised at ALL times.

Please do not use flippers in the swimming pool as these cut and damage the pool lining.

Sun Cream Damage: Please DO NOT USE P20 SUNCREAM. This reacts with chlorine in the pool and indelibly stains the pool lining and fabrics. Showering with soap will remove the cream and protect our towels, bedding and your clothes. Guests will be invoiced for damage caused to towels, bedding and pool furniture and excess filtering of the pool to remove P20 suncream.
