It was rather windy today, with flurries of rain. Brian had nipped out to help our guests with the metal gates, when he was greeted by our gorgeous old climbing rose, sprawled across the driveway.
Once he’d managed to let our guests drive out, he came in to get me, as it really was not a one man job.
“Crikey” I exclaimed, ‘I’m amazed it hasn’t broken. Let’s just start pruning off all the dead bits, and any weak branches. That should give us a chance to get it back up on the wall”.
So we grabbed our tools and got stuck in. Before long we had lightened the weight of the bush, and could start to see what we needed to do to fix it back on the wall.
Brian was straight on the case, fixing up a new wire on the wall.
Finally, the wind had calmed a bit, and we were able to fix it back in place. We could then stand back to admire our work. It was actually good to see it have a heavy pruning.
I would certainly miss this rose if it wasn’t there.
